FAQs
What exactly is HARARA?
HARARA is a lush urban retreat where you can detoxify in a steam bath, receive a rigorous scrub that will leave you glowing, meet up with friends, enjoy a nice beverage, socialize, and relax. The fact that your skin comes out radiant and glowing is the cherry on top. (Trust us, you’ve never seen your skin look this incredible). A gentle steam treatment, natural exfoliants, and a scrub with a kessa mitt, followed by a gentle massage with argan oil, will leave your skin glowing and your body blissed out. It’s a ritual you’ll want to return to again and again. With the vibrancy of a lush oasis, HARARA is the first modern hammam and bathhouse in Portland, Oregon. The temperature in the treatment rooms is about 105*F (a balmy day in beautiful Miami!)
What is a traditional hammam?
Hammams are a tradition of the Mediterranean basin. The word means both a public steam room and deep cleansing treatment. HARARA is a warm, social space incorporating elements of the ancient rituals of steam in a bathhouse: steaming, scrubbing, detoxifying, massaging, nourishing the skin, and gathering.
Why should I visit?
Stress, poor diet and digestion, medication, and other factors can lead to a build-up of toxins.
The HARARA experience stimulates blood flow, warms the body, and revitalizes and relaxes the whole system. It’s a retreat for the entire body, eliminating toxicity. Stress, poor diet and digestion, medication, and other factors can lead to a build-up of toxins. The heat of the steam room will open approximately 2.6 million sweat glands located under your skin. A single session in the steam room could help your body eliminate up to 30 percent of its waste and toxins through sweat.
